My biggest quibble with this book is that most of the houses did not seem like vacation homes at all; rather, they’re these huge, gargantuan mansions that most of us would die to live in full time…. I guess my perception of vacation homes is that they’re a little smaller than one’s “regular” house, more gem-like, and maybe some of the innovative spatial efficiencies are what make the house cool and worth documenting. So if that’s what you’re looking for (which I was) then this book is definitely not for you. If you’re just looking for a book with pretty pictures in it you’ll be better off, although as with most of these types of publications a bunch of the bigger photos were really grainy and just not of very good quality.
